English slaughterhouses exposed

The public is encouraged to believe that killing animals for their meat is essentially a pain- and stress-free business - so called 'humane slaughter'. This film was shot secretly in three slaughterhouses between January and June 2009 by Animal Aid and exposes 'humane slaughter' as a sham.

Battery cow investigation

Animal Aid exposed a shocking new development in the dairy industry: the arrival of the almost permanently confined ‘battery cow’. Under this ultra-intensive regime, many of the cows are kept inside sheds all year-round. Some may get out for intervals during the summer months; many will never venture outside at all.

Goat farming investigation

Animal Aid revealed the shocking suffering of goats on farms whose milk and cheeses are sold by leading supermarkets. Goats at all of the three farms visited are 'zero grazed' - an industry term meaning permanently confined. At the largest goat farm in the country, 3,500 goats are confined all year round.

Broiler chicken investigation

Six sick and ailing chickens were rescued from an intensive broiler shed and taken to a vet during Animal Aid's undercover investigation into the production of chickens bred for meat (broiler).

Freedom Food investigation

The RSPCA's Freedom Food scheme is under review following an Animal Aid undercover investigation of an RSPCA-approved Freedom Food chicken farm. Animal Aid found more than 30,000 birds in a 2,300 square metres unit with no access to the outside.

The British pig industry exposed

The British pig farming industry boasts it has the highest welfare standards in the world. When Animal Aid visited 10 English pig farms, instead of idyllic images of straw-filled pens, Animal Aid found squalor, filth, disease and death.
